Leadership Development

Dr. Dhingra has provided leadership development for higher education professionals, including faculty, across multiple institutions. He marries a community-based approach to practical guidance so that individuals can grow into their roles while also feeling that they are staying true to themselves. He specializes but is not limited to the liberal-arts college environment.

Dr. Dhingra was the faculty director for the Building Academic Leaders program, through a $1.6 million grant from the Mellon Foundation, for the Five Colleges in Western Massachusetts. Over 150 untenured and tenured faculty participated in distinct programs that gave them the skills and connections necessary to achieve. Participants praised the program as impactful and a highly effective use of time, and many signed up for additional programming.

Dr. Dhingra has created distinct programs for department chairs, tenured faculty, and tenure-track faculty. Each included both opportunities to hear concerns and provide responsive, tangible guidance and support.  He has also helped lead pedagogical development programming on advancing open inquiry in the classroom and on teaching with an anti-racist lens.

In addition to faculty support, he has partnered with The Noble Story Group to provide leadership development for the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC). Dr. Dhingra has served as department chair at three different institutions (Oberlin College, Tufts University, and Amherst College) and led the creation of a new major among other faculty administrative initiatives.

Since then he has held high-level administrative positions, as associate provost and associate dean of the faculty, vice president for equity and inclusion, and more. His vast experience in administration provides him the unique lens of the broader institution alongside faculty, staff, and student priorities.
